The Insides Company extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Gil Hardy, PhD, FRSC, FASPEN, on being honoured with the prestigious 2025 ASPEN Champion Award at the 2025 ASPEN Nutrition Science & Practice Conference. This distinguished award represents one of the Society’s highest honours, recognizing significant and sustained contributions to advancing clinical nutrition science and practice globally.
Professor Hardy's association with ASPEN began in 1977 when he attended the organization's inaugural congress. Since then, he has served in numerous leadership and founding roles across international nutrition societies.
His work encompasses 250+ publications on amino acid and lipid metabolism, micronutrients, and nutrition support therapies including most recently, chyme reinfusion therapy for intestinal failure patients. Professor Hardy was also involved with the development of the first disposable 3-liter parenteral nutrition bag.
ASPEN President Dr. Ajay Jain, MD, DNB, MHA noted: “Throughout his long and illustrious career, Dr. Hardy has been one of the most influential leaders in clinical nutrition and its very strong advocate on a global level. He has inspired and mentored researchers and clinicians on five continents, developed guidelines and advisory reports for professional societies and regulatory agencies around the world, and conducted research that has improved patient care everywhere.”
In receiving the award at the 50th anniversary of ASPEN, Professor Hardy acknowledged his debt to the early pioneers of nutrition support for intestinal failure and thanked all his multidisciplinary colleagues in the international clinical nutrition section of ASPEN for their friendship and long-time support.
